Purpose

The Georgetown AI Association (GAIA) is dedicated to supporting graduate and undergraduate students interested in mitigating risks from advanced AI. Through its reading fellowships, social events, research collaboration opportunities, career guidance, speaker events, and other activities, GAIA seeks to equip individuals to improve AI policy. Our primary goal is to facilitate learning and support students’ careers as they relate to AI safety, ensuring a responsible and secure future for AI technologies.

The Georgetown AI Association (GAIA) was established in 2023 as a student-led organization dedicated to fostering interest and expertise in frontier artificial intelligence policy within the Georgetown University community. Over the years, GAIA has grown to include members from a diverse range of academic disciplines across the Georgetown undergraduate, graduate, and alumni networks. Our AI Policy Fellowship has successfully helped students enter careers in AI Policy across the US government, think tank, and greater policy ecosystems. GAIA continues to play a pivotal role in promoting AI education, innovation, and ethical discussions on campus.
